Terry grew up in Binghampton, NY submerged in music. The youngest of twelve children, she says her favorite childhood memories were singing in musical theatre or with her family.

While Terry was in grammar school, 3 of her sisters started performing professionally. "My sisters would invite me to sing if I was in the audience, and Jeannie would tell me that I could join them when I graduated."

Although The Burns Sisters had dissolved by the time Terry graduated, their interest was renewed when an impromptu performance by all five sisters ignited such fun and excitement that the group went on to sign with SBK and Columbia Records. After two records with Columbia's pop music division, the road seemed yellow brick. "We were so close to making it," says Terry. But the label changed management, cleaned house, and The Burns Sisters fell prey.

"It was a huge disappointment, but it was also the beginning of my understanding that it was time to spread my wings."

So at the age of twenty-eight, she drove away from the comfort of her large, Irish Catholic family in a car with no air conditioning, only $400 in her pocket, and headed to Music City.

Waiting tables is a starving artist's mainstay, but Terry wouldn't be hungry for long. Boldly passing out her demo, she had a publishing offer with EMI in four months. Cuts with David Kersh, Lari White, and many more followed, as well as a move to MCA/Universal and later with Larga Vista Music.

Eventually the Nashville music industry was in crisis. Companies were folding right and left or merging into even bigger corporations. "The climate was cut throat and not and environment I enjoyed anymore." So after seven years of publishing contracts, Terry chose independence once again.

Her dream of making her own album became the focus, and her self-titled CD became a reality.

Now, Terry shares her music with the masses, performing regionally, and has started to write again. "This time has been an amazing opportunity to stretch and grow . . . to bring a whole new level of experience to my writing. I love sharing that. And I'm already looking forward to my next album!"

Terry's ability to lyrically capture the complexities of today's woman make her music universally appealing; and her intimate tones, coupled with memorable melodies, have ears from the industry turning heads once again.
